Battery Research at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for Sustainable Future

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore is one of campus with strongest research culture in Asia. Specifically in sustainable future innovation, NTU has many green project. One of them is battery research development, conveyed by Prof. Tim J White in plenary session of International Conference on Battery for Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles (ICB-REV) 2021 on June 22nd, 2021. Professor White is a president of Material Research Society (MRS) Singapore and also Associate Vice President of Infrastructure and Programs for Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In the last 15 years, NTU has been harnessing research, technology, and innovation ecosystem. There are three stage; Science & Technology Plan (S&T 2010), Research Innovation & Enterprise (RIE 2015), and Research Innovation & Enterprise (RIE 2020) with technical disclosures, patents granted, and papers published as output.

Prof. White also mentioned about the strong connection with four pillars of Singapore National Strategy. (1) Manufacturing, Trade & Connectivity,  (2) Health & Human Potential HPP, (3) Urban Solutions & Sustainability US, and (4) Smart Nation & Digital Economy SDE with strong foundation on basic research, innovation & enterprise, and Manpower. NTU also has powerful innovation ecosystem explained in vision, strategy, and tactics. The vision is centered in impact and influence which is seemless integration of the research enterprise with education, innovation, and impactful realization. This bright vision strongly supported by triple helix strategy with five promising tactics; (1) Develop Talent, (2) Secure Funding, (3) Grow Infrastructure, (4) Create Partnership, and (5) Capture Value.
