Muhammad Al-Fawza Bil-Jannah

In mid-May 2021, I had the opportunity to do an internship at the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) for one and a half months. My goal for doing this internship is to gain new experience, and also to learn more about batteries, especially li-ion batteries.

During my internship, I worked on a project given by Prof. Evvy with my friend. The project is to convert a conventional bike into an electric bike.

I learned a lot of things while working on this electric bike conversion project, especially when assembling a battery pack for a bicycle, such as calculating the internal resistance of each li-ion battery cell, arrange series and parallel connections to get the desired battery voltage and capacity, until welding the batteries with nickel strips to make a battery pack. Before working on a project, we were also taught to do a lot of research before deciding what action to take, so we won't suffer to losses in the future.

In addition to working on projects, during my internship I was also given the opportunity to become a committee member as well as being oral speaker at the International Conference on Battery Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles 2021. There I learned a lot how to be a committee in an international conference, also got experience in presenting a proceeding.

Besides taking a part at international conferences, I also had the opportunity to participate in the International Battery School 2021. I learned a lot of new knowledge about li-ion batteries and their development in today's world.

Thank you very much to NBRI and the team, especially Prof. Evvy, who has given me an opportunity to doing an internship at NBRI. Also thank you for giving me lot of experience and new knowledge that is useful for me in the future that I might not be able to get anywhere else.
