In the beginning of February 2023, I was able to get the opportunity to do internship at the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) that lasts for around 2 months. At the beginning of being an intern, I have no prior knowledge on batteries, from its materials, how its manufactured, tested, and developed. However, with just a week working at NBRI, I was able to learn so many new things on battery fabrication, battery composition, and its synthesis, with the help of the NBRI staffs that made this internship enjoyable. During my time as an intern, I was given the topic of research on the ‘Synthesis of Graphene from Rice Husk’ as well as ‘Incorporating Graphene-NMC Cathode in Li-ion Batteries’. The goal of the experiment was to see whether rice husk could be used as an alternative in producing graphene for incorporating with NMC active cathode material in making lithium-ion batteries.

From this internship, I was able to participate in research, events, and exhibitions held by various partners. I think this internship does not only enhance one’s laboratory skills and scientific knowledge but also develop one’s communication and problem-solving skills since we as an intern was always involved in engaging with numerous people from different backgrounds. Thus, I believe that this internship would bring many benefits and give many future opportunities.

Lastly, I would like to thank Professor. Evvy and Professor. Alan for giving me the opportunity to do an internship at NBRI. Although, I was only able to participate in a short period of time, I believe I had gain so much new insights during this 2 short months. I would also like to thank the NBRI team for guiding me through this internship and for the delightful work experience.
